Yippie Ki-yay!

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

Bruce here  -  one quarter of the new editorial staff at Skidmore Unofficial. Are we still using exclamation points!

Chances are that if you’ve been checking this dormant blog over the summer, you were both unemployed and hopeful that SU.com would one day return to help you stay in the know. Well no duh we would!  And if you’re new to the school, congratulations on finding this site! It’s the same kind of social tenacity that will get you ‘invited’ to your first Northwoods party with strangers – keep it up.

A few things about me:

According to this quiz I took on Quizfarm.com, I’m 66% ‘rebel’ and 53% ‘nerd’. First off, I think Jenny needs to learn about how percentages work, and secondly, she’s right!  I rebel in a nerdy way, like this dude from Live Free or Die Hard. I also love a good curry (I mean who doesn’t?). And if you get me drunk enough, I’ll give you the password to my parents’ Netflix account!

It’s going to be a fun year – see you in the Dhall!!

Chill Beginnings

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

A week ago, my mom and I went to Target to buy some cool new clothes and hair gel and Axe, because I’ve heard that orientation is THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME TO MAKE FRIENDS IN COLLEGE. I have a good feeling about this year. I’m writing for Skidmore Unofficial (which, incidentally, escaped a narrower death than John fucking Rambo), I’m finally out of the dorms, and Libya is free! Allahu akbar!

Anyway, the air reeks of new beginnings, so that’s why I got a Bob Marley poster, to show new friends that I can be as chill as the next bro. I’m just glad that I can finally find friends who are on my level of maturity and chillness!

Ha, just kidding, I’m totally just here for the resume padding and name-dropping-at-parties benefits. Let’s have a great year everyone!

Don’t Call It A Comeback: Glotzbach Returns

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

On this penultimate day of classes King Glotzbach has returned from his spiritual journey into the Sabbatical Mountains to continue his reign o’r our humble Liberal Arts kingdom.

In an memo included in last night’s Student Announcements Digest Glotz alerted his denizens of his return as Skidmore’s President. Chants of “USA, USA” and spontaneous renditions of the Star Spangled Banner could be heard across the nation.

In his address (included in its entirety after the jump), President Glotzbach reflected on the “wonderful opportunity for personal renewal” his brief sabbatical provided, and assured us, his humble subjects, that his time away “only deepened [his] appreciation for the many aspects of Skidmore that make our College the very special place it is.”

In the memo Glotzbach also thanks Acting President Susan Kress for her work these past six months saying, “I do want to take a moment to express my deep appreciation to Vice President for Academic Affairs Susan Kress, who has led the College superbly through a number of challenging situations since last November.” yup.

While away, Glotzbach spent his time writing about some issues he “believes are important to the future of the College and, more broadly, to higher education in our country” and probably driving around in his Chrysler Sebring.

Monday, January 24th, 2011

Oh hey, how you doing? How was break? Did you travel at all? Blah blah blah.

Welcome back everybody and welcome to second semester, you’ve just advanced one space on the board game of life. Time to get out of bed before 1pm and fill your brain with knowledge. This is college! No more pussy footing around, no more lolly gagging. Lets Go!

Welcome Back

Sunday, November 28th, 2010

Welcome back! How was your break? blah blah blah. Do your homework.

Yo Everybody, SkidmoreUnofficial.com is back!

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Hello former readers. Hello barely legal freshmen. Hello snooping school administrators. We’re bringing the site back and it is going to be bigger and better and full of more empty promises! I hope you enjoyed our time apart but I think we should really try and make it work this time.

Some of you may have found the print editions of our Freshmen Orientation Guide scattered around campus. Congratulations, you now own a piece of Internet History. If you weren’t lucky or popular enough to get yourself a copy, fear not: we’ll be posting the whole thing up here over the next couple of days.

Come back soon,
The SkidmoreUnofficial.com Editorial Team

Welcome Back Goofballs

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

It’s time to stop gossiping with your high school friends and feigning interest in your relatives. Instead, take this opportunity to prepare some graceful, yet canned answers in preparation for tomorrow’s onslaught of “how was your break?” themed questions (we suggest lying to make your home life sound more interesting).

To help you get back in the Thoroughbred spirit we’ve done a little research and rustled up some Monday night events to keep your mind off that new Thanksgiving pudge.

6pm Teach for America Info Session @ Starbuck
8pm The Exonerated directed by Ali Schultz ’09 @ JKB Studio A
