SGA to Present ‘It’s Happening Here’ Lecture Series

Wednesday, April 15th, 2015

Poster design by Dipesh KC.

This Wednesday and Friday, the It’s Happening Here campaign will be holding a two-part lecture series to “raise awareness about how students, faculty and staff and join together to combat sexual and gender-based misconduct at Skidmore.”

On Wednesday, April 15th at 6:30pm in Davis, Tim Mousseau will be giving a lecture entitled “Retaking Our Story: Reframing the Sexual Assault Conversation.” A Sexual assault survivor, Mousseau is an active voice on college campuses in educating students about leadership and empowering them to take a stand against sexual assault. Be sure and check him out on Twitter.

On Friday, April 17th at 3:30pm in Davis, Liz Seccuro will be giving a lecture entitled “Social Media & Sexual Violence: How Technology Helps & Harms Students & Campuses.” Seccuro is a victim’s rights advocate and author of the memoir Crash Into Me: A Survivor’s Search for Justice. You can find her on Twitter, as well as her website.

All these events seem both interesting and incredibly relevant to the current landscape of social activism in fighting sexual and gender-based misconduct, so we highly suggest you attend one (or both) of the lectures and support the great work SGA and many members of the community are doing.

…And Skidmore Crushes Is Gone

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

As quickly as it arrived on the scene, Skidmore Crushes is no more. Apparently, the page “violated Skidmore’s Community Guidelines,” which can only mean that the lady running Skidmore social media has launched an all-out campaign of total war against true love, friends-with-bennies, hate fucking, and everything in between.

I mean, come on, there HAVE to be things out there worse for Skidmore’s online reputation than some innocuous dating site where people compliment each other.

Whatever. They still haven’t caught Skidmore Animosity, a new ACB/bathroom stall that appeals to the furious, repressed darkness pulsing inside all of you.

UPDATE: Skidmore Animosity has also been taken down. This is like the scene in Revenge of the Sith when the clone troopers kill all the Jedi. 2/19, never forget.

Skidmore Unoffical Now on Instantgram!

“Lonely Trudge to Getty,” as part of Skidmore: A Life (or Something), 2012

I know sometimes it’s hard to believe, but we here at Skidmore Unofficial aren’t necessarily just a bunch of old fuddy-duddies who don’t know their asses from a dubstep. Believe it or not, we’re “hip” to the “scene.” If you don’t believe us, you can find us on “the web,” rubbing our long, slimy tentacles all over social media flashes-in-the-pan like Tweeter and Facespace.

That’s why I’m proud to announce the launch of the newly-created, official Skidmore Unofficial Instantgram! Here, I will be documenting our fair school and city as part of an ongoing photojournalism/art project titled Skidmore: A Life (or Something). I took an Intro to Photography class in high school, so I think I know a little something about what makes a good art, and thanks to the wonder and ease of social media, you all have the chance to experience my unique creative vision without being forced to schlep over to a Case Gallery show (which I assure you, I will be securing come spring semester).

Follow us at skidunofficial for more masterstrokes like the one you see above.

Social Media Slags

This is a Squirrel

Here at SkidmoreUnofficial we are popularity whores.  In fact I can’t go to bed without adding a new friend, follower or connection (Linkedin).  The problem is that I’ve run out of people I know.  For days now my counts have stagnated. I can’t go to sleep.

That is until we created the official SkidmoreUnofficial twitter account! Yes! We conquer all social media.  Now, instead of aimlessly navigating to the site in hopes of figuring out where you can get free food, you can follow us on twitter and receive instant updates and probably some witticisms to impress your friends with.
