Argentinean Jew Simja Dujov @ Falstaff’s

Wednesday, March 6th, 2013

In the absence of news about the lockdown, life goes on.

Tomorrow, Argentinean Jewish musician Simja Dujov will be performing at Falstaff’s. Apparently, he’s traveling all the way from Buenos Aires. Here’s the Skid Prop:

His music is a blend of Latin Cumbia, Balkan chords, Gyspy Surf and Klezmer. Heavily influenced by Gogol Bordello and Balkan Beat Box, his music is a teleportation machine that will inject energy and cheerfullness to next Wednesday night, when he will perform at Falstaffs.

This event is cosponsored by Hillel and Raices, marking the greatest collaboration between Jews and Latinos since Mike Bloomberg’s last attempt to speak Spanish.

Wednesday March 6, 8pm @ Falstaff’s

Hugo Chavez Documentary Screening

Wednesday, October 17th, 2012

Chavez and friend

Tomorrow, United Minds and Raices will be screening the No Volverán: The Venezuelan Revolution Now! This documentary examines the tenure of populist leader Hugo Chávez and the so-called “Bolivarian Revolution.”

Chávez has ruled Venezuela for over a decade. In that time, he has presided over a hilariously mismanaged economyrampant crime, and a crippling brain drain. Earlier this month, he secured a fourth term in a contested (and sketchy) election, and he has vowed to “deepen the Revolution” in the coming years.

A discussion will follow the screening, and a representative of Hands Off Venezuela! will be in attendance. I’ve watched part of the documentary, and though it’s fairly obvious Chávista propaganda, it’ll definitely foster a good, robust debate about Latin American politics, leftism, human rights, and the future of democracy in the region.

Dancing And Mexican Food

Wednesday, November 17th, 2010

Raices and Spanish Club are co-sponsoring an event where Savoy Dance will be giving Latin dance lessons and where food will be catered by Moe’s Southwest Grill. This is a pretty good event for people that love to dance and for people that love Mexican food.  This is a GREAT event for people that love to dance and love Mexican food.

I have included this picture of a dancing taco because this event involves dancing and Mexican food.
