Best Pizza in Saratoga?

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

The Greek Gods had Nectar and Ambrosia; the Israelites had manna, and college students, we have pizza and beer. Thankfully the beer debate has been settled. Unfortunately the question of where to get the best pizza in Saratoga still plagues many students. Drunk kids swear by D’Andrea’s; stoners claim that Domino’s really has improved, and some people like Esperanto. The only problem with this is that Saratoga is at veritable pizza mecca. These three establishments barely scratch the surface. Right now I just came up with a list, right off my dome, of a few pizza places in the area:

Amore, Caputo, Capriccio, Christina’s Pizza, D’Andrea’s, Dominos, Esperanto,
Forno, Giovanni, Harvest and Hearth, Mama Mia, Marino, Pizza Hut,
Pizza on Broadway, Pizza Time, Pope, Sabina, Saratoga Pizza House,
Supremo, Uno and West Ave Pizza.

How are semi-college educated people supposed to figure any of this out? I mean I thought National Grid was a board game.  Well don’t worry, our friends over at AlloverAlbany have taken it upon themselves to find the best pizza in the capitol region. The Saratoga bracket just happened right here at Skidmore College. It’s like the March Madness of pizza. It happens only once a year and I’m fairly certain the winner gets to meet Glotzbach. This year Amore, Mama Mia, Marino and Clifton Park(?) were represented. Go read the complete play-by-play at AlloverAlbany. The results may help you figure out where to get your next pie from. Also big thanks to AlloverAlbany for inviting one of our own to participate in the judging.

we love pizza and we don't care who knows it.

More Free Pizza From The SkidShop

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

The SkidShop is continuing it’s fantastic tradition of providing me (and I guess you guys also) with free food on Wednesday nights. You see, the SkidShop partnered with the Card Office to bring in local businesses that accept payment via the SkidID (read: mommy and daddy’s money) as a kind of cross promotion thingy and now we get to reward ourselves with a free slice of pizza after sitting patiently through AN-205.

Tonight from 5-7pm Inferno Pizza will be dolling out delicious slices of what the TimesUnion calls some of the Capital Region’s best pizza. A collection of their commercials will be released by the Criterion Collection later this year.

Forno Bistro likes the Skid Card

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Ever end up downtown at night and forget your wallet because all you ever do is carry around your SkidID? Well that happened to me last night. And when that usually means I’d be begging for money, now the ristorante Forno Bistro has it all taken care of. Yes, they’ve added themselves to the ranks of “Off Campus Merchants” that accept the Skid Card. Ahh, convenience is good.

To introduce their new payment plan, today through Thursday the Forno Bistro will be offering $8 pizza & beer. Also, it’s really close. Just check the map if you don’t believe me.

Another Debate, Another Debate Party

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Just in time for this weeks debate the Skidmore Dems are coincidently hosting another debate watching party. This time they’re throwing bi-partisanship to the dogs and accepting pizza paid for by the campaign for Jeff Wait who is running for City Court Judge in Saratoga County. Go ahead, take advantage of the lax campaign funding laws and educate yourself on the Maverick John and Mr. Obama. Tuesday October 7th 9pm in the SPA.

Pizza and Politics

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Have you ever wished you could see John McCain’s jowly face stretched across the big screen in Gannett? Well wish no more, because this Friday the SYRA and Skidmore Dems will be co-hosting a viewing of the first presidential debate on that very screen. Get your apathetic ass over to Gannett at 9pm and educate yourself. This debate, the first of many, is hosted by a forerunner in American partisanship Ole’ Miss University, and promises to focus on such important issues as “Where have all the flag pins gone?” “Who is more elite?” and also boring stuff like foreign policy and shit.

Pizza will be served to those of you who know what a filibuster is (or if you ask politely I’m sure).
