Lively Lucy’s Presents Stolked for Folk

Wednesday, September 10th, 2014

Tomorrow at 8:00pm in Falstaff’s, Lively Lucy’s will be presenting the latest installment in its annual folk event Stolked for Folk. If you have yet to experience “Fallstaff’s” (if you don’t know what I mean by that, then you haven’t experienced it yet), then this should be a perfect introduction to this wonderful student-run performing space (that definitely doesn’t host poor excuses for raves that will make you want to cleanse yourself/your soul by fully submerging yourself in rubbing alcohol the very second you get home and sober up).

The night will feature original music from folk heavy-hitters Melissa Chilinksi ’15, Jesse Hardman ’15, Ethan Carpene ’17, Izzy Howard ’17, and Peter Oundjian ’15. Some of these are veterans of the Skidmore folk scene, and some of them (to my knowledge) are performing solo on a bill for the first time. The evening will be chill, the vibes will be good, and, most importantly, the music will be home-grown here at Skidmore.

If you’d like to keep up with more events like this, check out Lively Lucy’s page on Facebook. Looks like they’ve got lots of awesome shit in store for the semester.

Missing Student Reported

Thursday, April 11th, 2013

At around 4:40 this morning, the Skidmore emergency text system reported that Skidmore student Peter Oundjian ’14 had gone missing.

Details are scanty, and I’ll be updating this page and the Skidmore Unofficial Twitter account with updates as they roll in. Of course, anybody with information is urged to contact the Saratoga Springs Police Department at 518-584-1800 or Campus Safety at 518-580-5567.

UPDATE – 6:56am: Campus Safety seems to have no real leads. Searching area and awaiting calls with any information.

UPDATE – 7:17am: Text via emergency system indicates that the student has been located.

Skinny White Folk Releases Single

Portland as fuck

A few days ago, Skidmore band Skinny White Folk (Peter Oundjian ’14 and Elliot Daniels ’15) released a single called “Portland,” but due to Fun Day and rain I’m only posting about it now.

Oundjian’s voice sounds kind of like James Taylor’s without the saccharine bullshit (all due respect to “Fire and Rain”) and the track is incredibly sad and haunting and other words people use to describe good music. They’re called Skinny White Folk because they’re white and skinny and play folk music, which is kind of funny I guess. Either way, check out the track because it’s free and really awesome.
