NY Knicks Begin 10-Day Training Camp

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

The New York Knicks began their 10-day training camp here at Skidmore College this morning. We assume practices will be just as tightly guarded as last year but don’t give up hope fanboys, I’ve heard Mike “The Moustache” D’Antoni is the guest DJ at Putnam Den this Friday.*

The Knicks have two first-round draft picks here with them—Jordan Hill and defensive guard Toney Douglas—and have also just re-signed free agents David Lee and Nate Robinson but have been tight lipped about the training schedule. The Knicks will have free reign over the Sports Center until October 10th when their camp will end with a game against Jay-Z’s New Jersey Nets at the Times Union Center in Albany.

I don’t really know what a fast break is and only play basketball for the ladies so for more in depth reporting try PostingandToasting.com where Skidmore student Seth Rosenthal is covering the practices.

Representatives from the New York Knicks and Skidmore College have now both confirmed that the team will be returning to our hallowed Sports and Recreation Center for pre-season practice this September. Previously the Knicks enjoyed pre-season training in Charleston S.C but moved to Saratoga last year after Mike “The Moustache” D’Antoni succeded Isiah Thomas as Head Coach.

Although last year’s practices were not open to the public Skidmore’s own Seth Rosenthal—who covers the Knicks at PostingandToasting.com—was granted some exclusive interviews.

Update: Knicks do not wear knickerbockers

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

We’ve heard from many of you on the ACB that the Knicks have been spotted in town and out around the gym. And for those of you who have actually attempted to get into the gym, we’re sure you found out that it’s not like getting into Peabody’s. Fortunately, Skidmore Unofficial’s Senior Basketball Correspondent has found his way onto the Knicks-List, and onto center court. For full coverage of the Knicks’ training camp here in the gym (right next to where you take your pilates class), check out Posting and Toasting, the most official unofficial Knicks blog. Here is one of the many interviews to come featuring some very tall men with very short hair…

Knicks Invade Skidmore

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

For me, nothing says Creative Thought Matters like off season basketball training, and apparently New York Knicks President Donnie Walsh, and whoever is in charge of Skidmore, couldn’t agree more. September 30th through October 4th we will be hosting the New York Knicks off-season training.

Tuesday as we awake from Monday night’s beauty sleep a bunch of really impressive looking coach buses will probably drop of a bunch of really impressive looking basketball players. While this may seem like the perfect opportunity for you to “bro out” with Allen Houston or confirm rumors that Patrick Ewing’s third leg runs in the family, I assume Mr. Walsh and head coach Mike D’Antoni will be keeping these boys pretty close. The team will meet twice a day in the “Sports and Recreation Center” with practices being held closed to the public.

The Knickerbockers have a pretty interesting media policy but we do anticipate at least a small media presence on campus this week. The Knicks also have a pretty interesting Carmelo Anthony policy, but we do not anticipate any Denver Nugget presence on campus this week.
