Pavilion Corporation Vote

Sunday, October 18th, 2009
yo dudes this is how you get to Fallstaffs

yo dudes, this is how you get to Fallstaff's

Returning students will remember that in 2008 the SGA held an emergency meeting to elect some students to the Board of Directors of the Pavilion Corporation, the governing body that runs Fallstaff’s.

Pavilion is a State-recognized not-for-profit established in 1985 to run Falstaff’s; every students is considered a member and in the past we have been responsible for electing members of the board. Unfortunately this whole set up was forgotten about until the winter of 2008 when the SEC, SGA and a few other concerned parties (Leadership Activities?) got to thinking about how to make Falstaff’s into a nicer venue and revived Pavilion.

In the Spring of 2008 an emergency meeting was held to create a new Board of Directors and in our infinite democratic wisdom we ended up electing a bunch of people who were graduating that Spring. Realizing that perhaps the current  system isn’t the best the remaining members of the Board of Directors have, after numerous meetings and discussions over the last several years, voted to dissolve the corporation and turn control of the building over to the College.

This vote needs to be ratified by 2/3 of the student body. All of this information—and more—is in an email sent to every student, an email you must reply to in order to vote. If you do not reply to that email you will be marked down as an abstention.

If you have any sense, social responsibility, or free time you should open up your skidmore.edu Inbox, search for an email called “PAVILION CORP VOTE – RESPONSE NECESSARY” and make democracy happen or whatever.
