Grizzly Bear and Gang Gang Dance at Skidmore College

these dudes are so serious

Tonight is SEC’s Big Show with Grizzly Bear and special guest Gang Gang Dance in the Big Gym. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door at their original prices. The doors will open at 8pm for what promises to be a memorable night—make sure you can remember it.

Remember that neither rotgut refreshments nor smoking are allowed in the Big Gym. Students who are obviously intoxicated will be escorted out and then whispered about at breakfast. Grizzly Bear is arguably one of the better acts currently touring but they will not make you want to rub your unmentionables against other people; students who get excited by friction will however enjoy Gang Gang Dance—an act not to be missed.

SEC will be collecting tickets at the main door of the Sports Center, people who tell you it is possible to sneak in don’t understand how things work and are best left alone.

Grizzly Bear and Gang Gang Dance Tickets: So Hot Right Now

The Grizzly Bros

Today begins the final countdown to the first-semester-spectacle that is SEC’s Big Show. Skidmore will host Grizzly Bear and Gang Gang Dance this Friday at 8pm. Just like last week, tickets will be on sale in Case Center from 11am-4pm and will set you back $5 for students and $20 for the public.

Since this is one of those rare opportunities where you get to see two amazing bands for the price of one mediocre band the SEC head honchos anticipate selling out of public tickets so it is recommended that you hastily secure your admission. If you can’t make it to campus to procure your tickets they can also be purchased online here.

SEC meets every Monday night at 8pm in Ladd 307

Gang Gang Dance To Open For Grizzly Bear

Gang Gang MOTHERFUCKING Dance

Gang Gang MOTHERFUCKING Dance

SEC announced via email this weekend that Gang Gang Dance will open for Grizzly Bear at September’s Big Show. Like Grizzly Bear, Gang Gang Dance has made waves after their most recent LP landed among the Pitchfork upper echelons. Gang Gang are a great addition to the bill that—while fucking fantastic— previously lacked any guarantee of danceability. Those of you worried about your ability to gyrate your pelvis to the ethereal harmonies of Grizzly Bear will be happy to know that Gang Gang Dance’s Middle Eastern, grime, African rytham aural cocktail has (on multiple occasions) resulted in me “grinding” with people.

The show is scheduled for 8pm on Sept. 25 and will be open to the public. No news yet regarding ticket prices but as always the cheapest and most exciting way to see a show is from the warm glow of love provided to those who volunteer to help SEC run the event.

GRIZZLY BEAR SEPTEMBER TWENTY FIFTH

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Everyone’s favorite band Grizzly Bear is slated to headline SEC’s fall semester Big Show scheduled for  September 25th.  Grizzly Bear is a fantastic snag for Skidmore; the band was recently rocketed to stardom after their most recent album—Veckatimest—made its way to the Billboard Top 100 albums chart after previous independent success.  The Brooklyn-based foursome is known for their beautifully creepy harmonies and intricate instrumental arrangements and stand in sharp contrast to previous Big Show headliners like Ghostface Killah and Girl Talk. Openers for the show are as-of-yet unnamed but apparently the recessionistas as SEC scored Grizzly Bear “mad cheap” and have some wiggle room when it comes to hiring.
