A Capella Auditions Are Wednesday

Tuesday, January 20th, 2015

This poster wins.

If you’re auditioning for a capella groups, odds are you’re totally in on the 411 for all that and none of this matters. If not, no worries! Throw together a couple bars of that one Adele or Billy Joel song and vocally strut your stuff. You might recall the ever-so-controversial post last semester in which we gave a run-down of the a capella groups, so check that out if you’re curious about the different groups and what they stand for.

The Accents are having their auditions at 7:30 in Zankel (follow the signs). They ask that you bring a verse and chorus from two of your favorite songs. And it better be your favorite, or else they’ll fucking know and won’t take you.

The Dynos are having their auditions in Zankel 214. 8pm. But you only need a verse and chorus from one song for this one. Props if you can successfully pantomime a grind line while auditioning by yourself.

The Banders and Drastics are also having auditions in Wilson and Zankel, respectively. Not sure on the time because there’s no Facebook event, and it’s too cold for me to venture outside to check, but it’s safe to say it’s within the 7-11pm time frame. (Feel free to comment in the replies if you know!) Open your eyes and check out a poster on Case walkway. Be bold. Step out of your comfort zone. New year, new you, new risks.

Update: Drastics auditions are at 9pm in Zankel. Thanks, TokenJew!

Drastic Measures Host Ugandan Children’s Choir

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

Tomorrow night, the Drastic Measures are hosting a benefit concert with Ugandan children’s choir, The Chosen. The concert will raise money for Action for Empowerment (which has the confusing, inexplicable acronym AOET?), a charity supporting education and infrastructure in rural African villages.

The Drastic Measures will be singing with The Chosen, as well as separately, and jewelry will be sold after the concert.

I would write more about this but the Facebook is incredibly vague about everything.

Drastics Get Shoutout From ASPIRe Prez

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

The Drastic Measures

The Saratogian broke their longstanding policy of never portraying Skidmore in a positive light yesterday when they ran a letter to the editor penned by ASPIRe NY President Deborah Garrelts thanking The Drastic Measures for their “tremendous support” and fund raising efforts.

The Drastics have raised “more than $2,600” this year through concerts and CD sales to aid ASPIRe NY’s autism awareness initiatives. Most recently the second annual “All Pull Together” benefit concert on March 31 raised over 1,000 bucks for the charity. Hurrah!

Get Some Really Really Good Cookies Man

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Are you hungry? I bet you’re hungry. I bet you could eat, like, soooo much food right now dude. Sooo hungry. Wow.

Lucky for your zooted ass the Drastic Measures are courting the bourgeoning “stoned college students who also like donating to local austism awareness programs” crowd by having a bake sale to benefit ASPIRe NY outside Case Center from 11am-5pm with delicious homemade treats for you to enjoy.

Good snacks, good cause, all you need now dude, is an Arizona Iced Tea and you’re set.
