Sometimes Skidmore feels like a crime free bubble; I leave my laptop unattended in the library, I haven’t locked my door in weeks, and my bicycle goes unchained. While this little fantasyland of integrity is ok, I let out a sigh of relief this morning when I read this email from Campus Safety:
We are urging everyone to lock your vehicles at all times. Recently we have had incidents where items have been stolen from unlocked vehicles on campus. These items included wallets, Ipods, and GPS devices.
Please lock your vehicles at all times and remove valuable items from obvious view.
Just when I thought I was living in some sort of suffocating pleasantville someone went out and did something perfectly normal (albeit skeevy). Thank god for petty crime for bringing us all back to the real world.
