Tulip Fest & The Summer Concert Season

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

Some art major, design them a cooler logo!

Just putting this on your radar, as it’s a free festival with great music provided by our friends at 102.7 WEQX (who recently played the new single by The Artifacts!) and killer food & beer (gotta pay for those, obviously). But it has pretty flowers and probably babies and dogs, and Megabus might be able to hook you up, because that shit is running (…right?). Featuring Fountains of Wayne, Walk the Moon, & Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun.

Way way in the future, May 11th & 12th

Oh, and while you’re thinking about music, don’t forget about Earth Day (rain or shine!), Fun Day (always shine by divine providence!) and Mountain Jam, which is in late May and features such bands as Steve Winwood, The Roots, Ben Folds Five (omg i fuckin kno), Trombone Shorty, Givers and Turkuaz. Summer-oh-twelve, cant wait!!!

This American Life: Live in Albany (and Elsewhere)

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Not that we didn’t get Ira here for a huge Speakers Bureau thing a few years ago or whatever, but if you’re in love with the show as much as some people are, you might want to attend the live show in Albany, on May 10th, 8:00pm. It’s a few weeks away, but if you’re interested, get there.

See it here: Crossgates Stadium 18 with IMAX

Talking Heads Cover Band to Play Jillian’s in Albany

Wednesday, January 25th, 2012

Halloween weekend 2011 was memorable for many reasons, but it was mainly due to the Talking Heads cover band, Start Making Sense. These guys were insanely good, as anyone who was there for the entire 3+ hour show can attest to (I’m looking at you, gang of Charlie Brown-inspired ghosts).

If you have a ride and the $13, this is definately worth checking out. You may not know all of the songs, but they’re still really fun to dance to, and when they play the hits, it is bananas. Tickets here, show at Jillian’s.
