Additional information about the event (including an awesome panel discussion on Women in Comedy) after the jump.

National College Comedy Festival 2012 (NCCF) will be taking place on February 10th and 11th, which I know seems like decades away but maybe learn some patience. The event will host 18 college comedy groups from the Northeast, and professional groups TJ & Dave, BriTANick, and Bleak! Comedy will also be in attendance.

On Saturday, Comfest participants are invited to attend workshops led by Armando Diaz of Magnet Theater and Bleak! Comedy for improvised and sketch comedy respectively.

Also on Saturday will be a panel discussion on Women in Comedy in the afternoon. The event will be held in Gannett Auditorium, and be open to the public and free of charge (women are the NICEST!!!). The producers will be choosing questions from Comfest participants as well as Skidmore student groups like Skidmore Pride Alliance, Feminist Action Network, BARE and the Center for Sex and Gender Relations in an effort to address a wide-range of woman- and queer-related issues about the creation, production and performance of comedy on a profesional level.

The panelists are as follows:

  • Peggy O’Leary, Member of Bleak! Comedy
  • Grace Helbig, Daily Grace web series and Attack of the Show! correspondent
  • Megan Gray, Artistic Director of Magnet Theater
  • Rebecca Krefting, Comedienne and Professor of American Studies at Skidmore, specializing in humor.
