You may have noticed that I’ve decided to delete the Anonymous Confession Board. Recently it’s been frustratingly inane, depressing and nasty. I’ve gotten really tired of spending my afternoons deleting your comments about who you think is stupid and ugly and smelly. In fact, in the 3 years since I’ve started this site I would say the vast majority of the things posted on the ACB have made me cringe. I’ve seen people take advantage of the anonymity by quoting and responding to their own posts and by posting multiple times in a row in an attempt to try and steer the conversation. I seen people stir nasty debate, fish for compliments and I’ve seem perfectly nice people ridiculed and absolute cocksuckers praised. Obviously, it had it merits and its shining moments of wit but I’ve pretty much forgotten why I started it and exactly what I thought it would accomplish.
If you’ve got nasty things to say or sex questions to ask steal a sharpie and hit the bathroom walls. This blog will obviously continue on as normal.

Dude… a certain amount of nastiness is to be expected, isn’t it? I mean, don’t nastiness and anoymity come hand in hand? Isn’t that one of the rules of the internet? Why take it down now?

I liked the sense of community feeling I got from it, though. The fact that other people had similar Skidmore-specific experiences — obsessing over someone you saw in d-hall, hating your housemate’s tendency to always leave you to go pick up the toilet paper, being too shy to shh someone on the third floor — was kind of nice.
Even though a lot of it was silly, that’s exactly what I’m looking for in a random online thing I check while I’m writing a paper. Thoughtful discourse on real topics is something people can get from their friends.
I get that there was a lot of cruel stuff being written up there and it made a lot of extra work for y’all, but RIP, ACB.
