CSGR Reopens for Semester

Written by Executive Editor on September 15th, 2009

The Center for Sex and Gender Relations opened its doors this Monday to provide to a safe, confidential space where students may have open and frank discussions of sexual and relationship issues. The CSGR works with local organizations to offer advocacy, training, and education pertaining to all aspects of sexual health and sexual conduct.

The Center also stocks a variety of condoms, lubricants and forms of contraception and provides programming throughout the semester, inclduing the always popular sex toy party.

CSGR Peer Advocate Joe Yanks ’11 explains

The vast majority of sexual assault and rape on college campuses occur during the first six weeks of school. Students should never hesitate to come have an open, confidential talk with the Center’s staff.  Our new weekend hotline is available at (518) 256-1439 Thursday 7pm-Sunday 7pm. You can call for quick questions, or to get immediate help for a crisis (Sexual assault, domestic violence, etc). It’s important to note that while we are confidential, we are required by law to report sexual assaults to the government because of the Cleary Act (Although we can report as much, or as little, as you’re comfortable with).

The Center is open:
M/W: 1-8pm
T/Th: 3-8pm
F: 1-5pm
