Every year Skidmore Pride Alliance sponsors a rave. It’s a safe, sweaty space to go ape-shit and express yourself with bright colors and impassioned dance moves. And, unlike the other safe(?), sweaty space to go ape-shit and express yourself (i.e. Moorebid, Mine, etc.), it’s completely free.

In years past it’s been in Falstaff’s, packed to the brim with exuberant LGBTQ cats and supporters celebrating life and all that goes with it, but this year it’s in the small gym. The venue’s changed partly because Falstaff’s can’t handle that kind of power, passion, and drunk people anymore and partly because there’s an SEC concert the same night. Though I’m told that if you go to SEC’s show featuring Cosmonaut & Pooch, starting at 8pm, you’ll still have plenty of time to hit up Spectrum after. I’ve also been informed that, just like in years past, the exhibition booth will be present. For those who haven’t been, that means there will be a live-cam projecting footage from the dance on the walls. So everybody can feel (un)comfortably close to you as you dance, make-out, and celebrate pride. The theme is Space, so be sure to wear your most vibrant, glow-in-the-dark anything you own. It’ll be a good time, always is.

Spectrum, Saturday Nov. 2nd, 10pm-2am, Small Gym
