The illest

Skidmore’s favored son and published author, Steven Millhauser, has won the 2012 Story Prize for short fiction for his collection We Others, beating out uninspired losers Don DeLillo and Edith Pearlman. With this and his 1997 Pulitzer under his belt, now all he has to do is win the upcoming PEN/Faulkner to become the Secretariat of liberal arts professors.

Also, he won $20,000 with the prize, so if you’re hard up for cash, direct your petitions to the third floor of Palamountain.

*Yawn* If Stevie want to be considered a member of the faculty, let him come to a faculty meeting or run for a committee sometime.

    ZZZzzzzzzz…

  2. Noelle McKay says:

Steven is one of the most humble, shy, and unassuming people I know. Politics isn’t for everyone. He rarely missed a department meeting, and his students adored him. Leave him alone—so he can write another book.
    And make us all proud!
